British Council opens its first International Pre-School in Hong Kong

It adopts the UK-based International Primary Curriculum (IPC), a thematic-based curriculum with clear learning goals and specific guidelines for assessing and evaluating students.

“The British Council has been teaching English in Hong Kong for 35 years and would like to continue the tradition of excellence by providing the best early-years education to the Hong Kong community,” said Ms. Jasmina Wadhwani, Head of the British Council International Pre-School. “The Pre-School is a response to on-going demand from many satisfied parents who have been telling us they want their children to learn with us, and this is an exciting step to make our education services more holistic.”

“Led by qualified teachers with extensive experience of early-years education, our students will grow into inquisitive, confident, responsible and independent thinkers as well as life-long learners. As an international city with diverse cultural backgrounds and strong demand for high quality education, Hong Kong is an excellent place for the British Council to fulfill our education mission. The Pre-School helps children to develop a respect for their own cultural identity as well as those of others and grow into life-long learners,” Ms. Wadhwani added.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Dr. Jimmy Chiang, said, “The British Council has a long and active history in Hong Kong’s education sector. We are happy to see it expand into Pre-School operations, which will offer more choices for parents and students. I wish their Pre-School every success.”
