New Business Owner Establishes Successful Franchise in Hong Kong
In less than 18 months the company has set up two Edible Arrangements stores in Hong Kong employing 12 local staff
The business concept behind Edible Arrangements is simple and unique: it combines three of the most popular gift items, fruit, flowers and chocolate, in an original hand-sculpted edible and healthy gift arrangement. The product is proving to be as popular with corporate customers as it is with individuals. As well as being purchased for gift-giving occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and seasonal holidays, fruit bouquets are also suitable corporate gifts, employee appreciation or can add cheer to board meetings.
Why Hong Kong?
Sanja Dujic is the owner of the Edible Arrangements Master Franchise Agreement in Hong Kong. She decided to set up the business in Hong Kong because it is an international city and its people are open-minded to new products and ideas. The company was set up in October 2009 and in less than 18 months it has built up a healthy client base with 30 percent of its business coming from regular customers. Despite gifts traditionally being selected and bought by women, the product is also proving to be nearly as popular with men, looking for an original, practical and healthy gift for any occasion.
“The business has proved successful and our sales are growing month by month. There is interest and great market potential for our unique products and this is a key reason why we have opened a second store in Hong Kong and plan to open further stores in the future,” said Dujic, who is the Director of Edible Arrangements Hong Kong.
The first store with production facility and delivery service is based in Jordan in Kowloon and opened in February 2010. From here it is possible to deliver to any address in Hong Kong within two hours in order to meet the company’s same day delivery promise for all orders placed before 4:00 p.m. The site also offered the necessary space for its delivery service and parking, and food factory where all the fruit is expertly cut and hand-dipped in chocolate before being designed in the Edible Arrangements’ unique floral-styled arrangements. In April 2011 Edible Arrangements opened its second store in the IFC shopping mall. It secured the premium retail space thanks to the uniqueness of the product and strong track record and sales results.
Straight Forward to Set Up a Business
Edible Arrangements employs 12 people in Hong Kong, with the majority working in the food factory and the remainder in customer service and delivery. Dujic found setting up the Hong Kong business very smooth with organisations including InvestHK available to offer advice and help to a business newcomer.
“This is where the business is and Hong Kong is a great place to live and work,” she said.
