teamLab: Continuous | Art@Harbour 2024

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) joins hands with the international art collective teamLab to present the ‘teamLab: Continuous’ as part of the Art@Harbour 2024 exhibition at Tamar Park and the Central and Western District Promenade. The luminous and interactive installations span across the lawns of Tamar Park to the Victoria Harbour, showcasing the vibrant harbourfront.

French May (April - June)

Hong Kong Arts District Signed Deals With 22 Global Institutions To Promote City’s Status As East-meets-West Cultural Hub

Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District Authority signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with 22 renowned global institutions, paving the way for works of art and performances from around the world to come to the city. The signatories included museums, conservation and art research institutions, art centres, film archives, theatres and threatre associations from France, Japan, Korea, Qatar, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Britain and the United States, as well as cities in Mainland China.

Hong Kong Cultural & Art Industry Revitalisation Program

Hong Kong Cultural & Art Industry Revitalisation Program was launched by Alibaba Digital Media & Entertainment Group (ADME Group) at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market. Its primary objective is to establish a close collaboration with Hong Kong's film and TV industry, developing dynamic modes of cooperation while nurturing new talent. As part of their commitment, ADME Group plans to invest HK$5 billion over the next five years and make Hong Kong their second headquarters.

The 2024-25 Budget

The Financial Secretary, Mr. Paul Chan, delivered the 2024-25 Budget Speech on 28 February. Key initiatives that aim to develop Hong Kong into an East-meets-West Centre for International Cultural Exchange include:
• Inject HK$1.4 billion into Film Development Fund
• Inject HK$2.9 billion into CreateSmart Initiative
• Organise Hong Kong Fashion Design Week annually from 2024 onwards
• Devise key arrangements of Signature Performing Arts Programme Scheme in first half of 2024 to support long running of large-scale programmes
• Organise the first Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo
• Organise the 4th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival

To further develop the art & culture industries, the Government will allocate HK$42 million for organising the Hong Kong Performing Arts Market designed for the performing arts industry, and allocate HK$40 million to facilitate the application and development of arts technology.

New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme

The new Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (the Scheme) is now open for application. An eligible applicant must make investment of a minimum of HK$30 million in the permissible investment assets. A successful applicant may bring dependents (including spouse and unmarried dependent children aged under 18) to Hong Kong. The Scheme demonstrates the Government’s commitment to strengthening the development of asset and wealth management business, financial services and related professional services, as well as driving the high-quality development in Hong Kong. Hong Kong’s Hollywood Road Named Second Coolest Street In The World

Hollywood Road clinched the title for second place in Time Out’s 2024 coolest street in the world list. The 180-year-old Hollywood Road was chosen for its rich history yet ever-evolving character, and all the cool things it offers, including a range of experiences for art appreciation, dining and drinking, and retail offerings. It is also an art hub, with antique shops, art galleries, and Instagram-worth murals, and is especially lively during Arts Month in March.
