Last Straw for Plastic Tableware as Ban Set for 2023
After public consultation, authorities plan to put in place the first phase of the Scheme on Regulation of Disposable Plastic Tableware as early as the fourth quarter of 2023. The Government will prohibit the sale and use of disposable expanded polystyrene tableware at catering premises, as well as disposable plastic straws, stirrers, cutlery and plates. FEHD Launches Trial Scheme to Regulate Placement of Waste Generated by Food Premises
The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) has launched a trial scheme to allow licensed food premises to place large-size containers in the rear lanes under specific conditions for temporary storage of waste until collection by cleaning workers hired by them. Under the scheme, 240-litre waste containers labelled with shop signs are placed in nine selected rear lanes connected to food premises. The purpose is to improve environmental hygiene and address rodent infestation problems in rear lanes. More details…

食環署推行試驗計劃規範食物業妥善處置廢物
食物環境衞生署在多個地區推行試驗計劃,容許持牌食物業處所在符合特定條件下,於其相連後巷擺放大型垃圾桶,妥善地短暫存放垃圾以待該處所委聘的清潔人員收集。食環署在九條與食物業處所相連的後巷提供已標示商號的240公升垃圾桶,規範有關處所處理及儲存垃圾的方式,務求改善後巷環境衞生及有效防治鼠患。 詳情…

Consumers Prefer Restaurants with Environment Friendly Packaging for Takeaways
According to Deliveroo’s surveys conducted in September and October this year, more than half (62 percent) of the consumers surveyed prefer to order takeaways from restaurants that use environmental friendly packaging. At the same time, nearly half (44 percent) of the restaurants surveyed said that they have not switched to environmental friendly packaging. Although they are willing to adopt environmental friendly packaging, lack of financial support has become a major obstacle. (Source: Hong Kong Economic Times, 2 November 2022)

市民訂外賣 偏好採用環保包裝餐廳
戶戶送Deliveroo分別在今年九月和十月進行調查顯示,超過一半(62%)的受訪消費者,更偏好向採用環保包裝的餐廳訂購外賣。與此同時,有近一半(44%)的受訪餐廳表示,仍未改用環保包裝,即使上述餐廳有意願採用環保包裝,但缺乏資金支持成為主要障礙。(資料來源:經濟日報 2022年11月2日)

Government Enhances Green Lifestyle Local Tour Incentive Scheme
The enhanced Scheme will be implemented from 1 December 2022. Details are as follows:
(1) provide each licensed travel agent with a fresh quota of 1,000 green lifestyle local tour participants
(2) increase the subsidy level for receiving each local tour participant from $200 to $300
(3) expand the scope of eligible green lifestyle local tour participants to include non-Hong Kong residents

Enhancement to SMEs Export Marketing Fund (EMF)
The cumulative funding ceiling per enterprise under the EMF has been increased from HK$0.8 million to HK$1 million. Furthermore, effective from 30 April 2021 until 30 June 2026, the funding scope is expanded to cover large-scale exhibitions targeting the local market as well as online exhibitions, and the eligibility criteria is relaxed to cover non-SMEs. Government Enhances Plastic Shopping Bag (PSB) Charging Scheme
The enhanced Scheme will be implemented on 31 December that includes:
(1) increasing the charging level per PSB from the current level of at least 50 cents to at least $1
(2) removing the present exemption for PSBs carrying frozen/chilled foodstuff items
(3) tightening the scope of exemption such that free PSBs can only be provided when purchasing foodstuff items without packaging or not wholly contained in any packaging, or food and beverage takeaway items in non-airtight packaging, subject to the basic principle of "one free PSB per single transaction" More details…

優化計劃將會在12月31日開始實施,措施包括:
(1) 每個塑膠購物袋的收費由現時最低五角提高至最低一元
(2) 取消現時對盛載冰凍或冷凍食品的塑膠購物袋的豁免
(3) 收緊豁免的情況:只有購買沒有包裝或並非完全載於任何包裝的食品,或購買以非氣密包裝的餐飲外賣,才可獲免費提供塑膠購物袋,並以每單一交易一個免費袋為基本原則
